Message of Support

All of us at the SSRCE are holding the families, friends, communities and first responders impacted by the tragic events on Sunday in our thoughts and our hearts.
As a province we are grieving. We know that for many of us the days and weeks ahead will be difficult. We also know that we are stronger together, and together we will help each other through.
At this time we want to remind families and students that even though we are not together as we usually are, we are here to support you. School Counsellors, School Psychologists and Schools Plus staff are some of the support people that you can connect with.
Please reach out to myself at 902-521-6362 or @ and i can put you in contact with our Guidance Counsellor, School Psychologists and/or Schools Plus staff so they may be able to support your family.

Learning at Home

There will be two ways to learn at home until school starts up again.

1. For those who don't have access to internet and/or devices there will be the provincincial package of learning that will arrive every two weeks starting Wednesday, April 8th with the flyers. Teachers will be available by phone to support these students and will be checking in to see how students are making out. These packages are meant for those who don't have access to online learning but students can also supplement their online learning with the lessons in this package if they wish.

2. Online learning with teacher support. This will begin Wednesday, April 8th as well and for those participating, you should of heard from a teacher by now. This will look different depending on the grade level as older kids are able to use a more advanced platform of technology. For P-6, the recommended amount of work at home is 1 hour per day and for Grades 7 & 8 it is 2 hours per day. In both cases, teachers will send out 1 week of suggested assignments to work and will be available during their office hours which will be indicated in their correspondence.

If you need more information, support or have any concerns please feel free to call me at 902-521-6362.

Schools Closed Until May 1st

Hello NRCS Families! I hope everyone is coping and staying safe indoors during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The recent announcement by the Premier is that schools will be closed until at least May 1st.

Currently, teachers are reaching out to parents of students to see how you are coping through this stressful event, asking about your technology status (Devices and Internet Connection) and letting you know that report cards are forthcoming.

Moving forward, the learning plan for students will be a (1) A combination of online at home learning and (2) For those lacking the necessary tech connection and/or devices, a bi-weekly learning package that will be distributed by the SaltWire Network. SSRCE staff are awaiting details regarding how this will unfold but we are working hard together to be ready for these next steps.

Parents please check out to find out ways to support your child's learning at home.

As soon as we hear further details, teachers will be in touch with families. In the meantime, please take care of one another and stay safe!
